Help Rebuild Homes—and Hope—for Four Forgotten Women in the High Atlas

A year and a half after the devastating earthquake that struck the High Atlas mountains, the world’s attention has moved on—but for many, the aftermath remains a harsh and painful daily reality. Among the most affected are four widowed women in a remote village whose homes were completely destroyed.

Despite being born and raised in their village, these women—aged between 60 and 75—have been denied access to governmental rebuilding aid due to an administrative complication: their ID cards do not reflect the village as their official address. While neighbors rebuild their lives, brick by brick, these women are left behind—alone, vulnerable, and invisible.

One of them (Keltoum, on the left) has suffered unimaginable loss, having lost seven members of her family in the quake. Yet in the face of this grief, they continue to wake up each morning in makeshift shelters, watching others move forward while they remain stuck in despair.

This campaign is a call for solidarity, dignity, and justice.

What makes this community so resilient is its spirit: neighbors are ready to step in and help with the construction work—offering their hands, time, and strength. What’s missing is the material: cement, wood, bricks, and transportation.

With just €2,500 per woman, a total of €10,000, we can ensure each one of them has a safe roof over her head before next winter.

Let’s not let bureaucratic neglect condemn them to isolation. Let’s not allow their age or administrative status erase their right to live with dignity.

Un an et demi après le terrible séisme qui a frappé les montagnes du Haut Atlas, l’élan de solidarité s’estompe. Pourtant, sur le terrain, la détresse persiste. Dans un petit village, quatre femmes veuves, âgées de 60 à 75 ans, vivent encore dans les ruines de ce désastre.

Leurs maisons ont été complètement détruites. Mais en raison d’un détail administratif absurde — leurs cartes d’identité ne mentionnent pas officiellement le nom du village, bien qu’elles y soient nées et y vivent depuis toujours — elles n’ont bénéficié d’aucune aide gouvernementale.

Alors que le reste du village reconstruit petit à petit, ces quatre femmes restent invisibles, sans espoir de soutien. L’une d’entre elles a perdu sept membres de sa famille dans le séisme.

Et pourtant, elles tiennent bon. Elles survivent, dignement, malgré le deuil, le froid, et l’abandon. Le reste du village est prêt à aider avec sa force physique pour reconstruire. Il ne manque que le matériel.

Avec 2500€ par femme, soit un total de 10000€, nous pouvons acheter et transporter les matériaux nécessaires à la reconstruction de leurs maisons — et leur offrir enfin un toit digne de ce nom.

Nous refusons de les laisser tomber dans l’oubli.

مرّ عام ونصف على الزلزال المدمر الذي ضرب جبال الأطلس، لكن المعاناة لا تزال قائمة. في قرية نائية، تعيش أربع نساء أرامل تتراوح أعمارهن بين الستين والسبعين، بلا مأوى، بعد أن تهدّمت بيوتهن بالكامل

ورغم أنهن وُلدن ويعشن في هذه القرية، لم يتلقين أي دعم حكومي لإعادة بناء بيوتهن، بسبب خطأ إداري بسيط: بطاقات الهوية الخاصة بهن لا تحمل اسم القرية كمكان إقامة رسمي.

وفي حين يعيد باقي سكان القرية بناء منازلهم، بقيت هؤلاء النسوة الأربع في عزلة تامة. إحداهن فقدت سبعة أفراد من عائلتها خلال

الزلزال

لكن الجيران مستعدون للمساعدة بأجسادهم وجهدهم. ما ينقص فقط هو ثمن مواد البناء ونقلها إلى القرية.

بـ 2500 يورو فقط لكل امرأة (أي ما مجموعه 10000 يورو)، يمكننا شراء ما يلزم لبناء أربعة منازل، وإعادة شعورهن بالأمان والكرامة
