L'HEURE VIDE HUMANITAIRE - Venezuelan refugees

While travelling through South America by car we crossed the border of Ecuador and Colombia in Rumichaca. There we saw so many Venezuelan refugees in such great misery without the help they needed, that we decided to stay. We started this NGO, and have been working together succesfully with local and international organizations to give them the help they need. Please visit us at: www.lheurevidehumanitaire.orgInstagram: L'HEURE VIDE humanitaire L’HEURE VIDE humanitaire is a small network-based NGO focused on short-term projects in emergency situations involving refugee issues worldwide. Our approach is to assist existing humanitarian aid structures and local associations and to supplement them when their opportunities to act are limited or restraint. Our aim is not to direct or to implement. We are there to help. This approach ensures that we can focus on what is needed on the ground and in the now to fill the gaps in aid left by big organizational structures and complex international policy. As a small and nimble organization, we are not limited by bureaucracy or massive overhead. This allows us to concentrate our efforts where we excel: organizing the available resources in a hands-on, creative way to produce tangible results quickly and effectively. Help fund a cochlear implant surgery for 18 month old baby

Raising a funding campaign as I came across the story of Marc Alexander, 18 month baby boy born in Haiti and diagnosed bilaterally deaf (both ears). Long story short, Haiti does not have the proper medical infrastructure and the government support to help this little boy get a cochlear implant surgery that would give him the ability to hear and speak. The longer he waits to get the implant, the more irreversible speech and development delay will occur. This would cost USD 30,000 including a trip abroad to get the surgery done (I myself have done research for my daughter and no kidding, it really cost that much). I spoke to his mother who didn't know what to do and who to turn to, and I felt the need to help them. As a French national and a Hong Kong resident , and as a mother of a 6 months deaf baby myself, my family is fortunate enough to have access to the best-in-class health support, excellent medical care and infrastructure ...and this is all (or almost) FREE!! We tend to forget how lucky we are. This little boy does not share our luck. Please take some time to read his story, DONATE and SHARE THIS POST to help him get access to a cochlear implant surgery, this amazing, life changing technology that will give him back the gift of hearing and speech.Carine Story of Marc Alexandre: Hello everyone. We are Kamaïa and Darlin Jeanty, parents of 18 months old Marc-Alexandre. We live Haiti, one of the most under-developed country in the world. We suspected the deafness of our son when he was 2 months and a half, as he was not reacting to sound. Due to lack of medical resources and infrastructure in Haiti, we were unable to obtain a diagnosis right away. When Marc-Alexandre turned 12 months old, we had been recommended to have him checked out in Republic Dominican. Without a second of hesitation, we took out all of our savings and bought a flight for the 3 of us to go meet an ENT specialist there. The results were devastating: Marc-Alexandre was diagnosed bilaterally deaf (both ears). We were not sure what to do or where to turn. We do not know if he would ever say, "I love you Mommy and Daddy." We have prayed for a happy, productive life for Marc-Alexander, and we want him to go to school and someday graduate from university to pursue a career and a life that he chooses. The ENT was adamant that our son needed cochlear implants; Implanting Marc will give him access to sound which will provide him with the only chance of age-appropriate speech and language development. This will provide him the opportunity to a better education and independent employment as an adult in the future. If not implanted, it may lead to permanent changes in the auditory cortex in the brain which may make it impossible to benefit from a cochlear implant or any form of hearing restoration surgery in the future. The cochlear implant bypasses the damaged portions of the ear and directly stimulates the auditory nerve. The signals are generated by the implant and are sent passed the auditory nerve to the brain where the signals are recognised as sounds. However, the cochlear implants will cost USD$30,000 as we do not have insurance and there is no government social subsidy or help of any kind. We are raising money to pay for medical expenses including surgery, cochlear implant device, and a trip abroad for the surgery.Marc is growing up and as his parents; we know we have to do something. The only future for our son is to hear with cochlear implants. Just like everyone else, we want to give him the best possible future there is.Life is so precious and this innocent boy who deserves the right to live normally. In advance, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your incredible moral and financial support. Thank you for helping us change the life of our child. Kamaïa and Darlin Jeanty

Marco & Thijs - Bike4Kika

All, This summer (4th August) myself and my son Thijs will be biking ~1000km from Oberrieden, Switzerland to Schagen, the Netherlands. We will be following the river Rhein all the way to the Netherlands. We aim to complete the bike tour in 10 days. We are doing this to raise money for child cancer research. Reason we are doing this is that a little over a year Thijs’s grandad passed away from cancer. I also had cancer and was lucky enough to survive, as such we want to do what we can to help other people that have cancer. Every little bit helps. All the money donated will go 100% to KIKA, which has been set up in 2002 to fund innovative research for Child Cancer. Treatments have significantly improved but still 1 in 4 children, diagnosed with cancer dies. The charity’s aim is to increase the survival rate of children suffering from cancer from 75% to 95% by 2025. They aim to do this by funding scientific research, improving treatments (less pain, higher cure rate and improved quality of life), concentrating expertise and treatment for children to accelerate experience. We hope you want to support with us this cause as no one especially not a child, should have to die from cancer. Thank you!Thijs & Marco

Support for Aelfin Michel

Aelfin Michel - Critical Condition - Hua Hin, ThailandSadly, on December 31st, Aelfin tragically crashed on a motorbike causing him to suffer severe head and face trauma. Aelfin is currently in ICU under 24 hours medical care and constant support. When Aelfin arrived in emergency he required immediate surgery to remove bleeding on the brain and had part of his skull removed, which will need to be replaced with titanium. His jaw and teeth were severely smashed which will require surgery, as well as other serious facial and head injuries. Unfortunately this is a very critical situation. Due to the severity of his head injuries he has had many operations to date and requires many more, plus 24 hours support and months (if not years) of therapy. The latter is not yet known as we are currently taking it day by day, knowing that each day is a miracle. Aelfin is a fighter and at every set back he is fighting to stay here with us. For those that know him will know his determination and stubbornness. This trait is shining through in his fight for his life. This gives us hope. Holding onto this hope and knowing that Aelfin will keep on fighting, there is a long and very expensive battle ahead of us. He requires many more surgeries, and unfortunately at this stage, we are unsure of the extent of damage and rehabilitation required. We urgently ask all of you to help support Aelfin and his mother, Emma, with the extensive ongoing medical costs and medical care that Aelfin needs now and for the coming months. ALL of the funds donated will be used to cover Aelfin's hospital bills, medical and rehabiliation expenses. We would like to express our gratitude for your kind donations to the SUPPORT AELFIN FUND. Best regards,Aelfin's support team

Merci

Daily wage working families in Iran need help during COVID-19 outbreak

Daily wage working families in Iran need help during COVID-19 outbreak

Amid the shock, pain and fear of the novel Coronavirus, Iran, one of the most affected countries by the virus, has also been suffering from crippling American and international sanctions for years. These sanctions have made thousands of local businesses vanish and reversed the previously decreasing rate of poverty in this country, endangering the livelihood of millions of Iranians. On top of the international isolation, Iranian government has been the embodiment of incompetence and discrepant statistics since the beginning of the outbreak by not shutting down pilgrim sites, offices, banks, and not quarantining the city the outbreak started from and even worse than that by mocking the international measures taken to limit the spread and misinformation campaigns on state TV that lead to the public not taking the disease seriously and continue their daily activities. Since millions are daily-waged in Iran, they suffer from biological poverty if they don’t leave home every day. By only 20 euros you can support one whole family to have acceptable quality of nutrition for a few days.We are directly connected to over fifty families and can send your support directly to them so they can supply themselves for one month without needing to work outside. Since the sanctions have made it impossible to send money to Iran, we have used our network of trusted people that are willing to help with the transaction. You can share the joy of getting through the hard times of quarantine by enabling at least one more family in a highly affected part of the world to also be able to stay safe.

Rice for the Himalayas

Rice for the Himalayas

Dear Family and Friends, Namaste from Dubai and Kathmandu and welcome to the "Rice for the Himalayas" money pot !With just 1-click you can contribute to this emergency fund to help the villagers of Phakding, in The Himalayas who are badly affected by the COVID pandemic.Further to the worldwide travel restrictions, tourists have cancelled their trips to the majestic Himalayas resulting in a total absence of revenue for those villages completely dependent on the economy generated by the travellers. Located in the remote areas of Nepal, they are unfortunatley neglected by their government.Let me give you a bit of background... In Summer 2018, I left for holidays in Italy and realized I had forgotten all my books expcept one "The Lonely Planet" about Nepal. Every night, I was reading relentlessly this book, dreaming and imagining the natural beauties of this country, promissing to myself to visit it very soon. In November of the same year, my grand-mother passed away and left me with a beautiful legacy. After her funerals, my family had organised a gathering to thank the people who has attended the ceremony, as per the French tradition. Among the attendees, were Mr & Mrs Lesot, friends of my parents from the same village as us and whom I knew for their generosity and passion for Nepal. I asked them about recommentations to visit Nepal and they introduced me to their adopted Nepalese son Pemba Sherpa, mountain guide, originated from the Himalayas. In December 2018, the 5 of us and my Dad visited Kathmandu and its valley, met Pemba and fell in love with this beautiful country. In April 2019, Gaspard, Paola, Jean and I travelled to Pokara, trekked for 5 days in the Annapurnas, visited many villages, safely guided by Pemba and his team. It is one of our most memorable and lovely experiences. The exploration should have continued but unfortunately the Covid pandemic surged and upended many of our projects.Today, with my friend, Pemba Sherpa, who I trust 100% for his honesty, integrity and transparency, we decided to support the people affected by the pandemic and support them with their essential needs. Our first objective is to give them access to food/rice. Thanks to this money pot, I will send the money to Pemba who will convert it into rice bags to each family in needs in his area. With just 1-click you can contribute to this emergency solidarity chain.* Give however much you want. For your information, 1 bag of 10kg rice costs 5 euros in Nepal, it is not so much for us but means so much for them.* You can chose to be anonymous.* All payments are 100% secure.* Our organization is very simple, just Pemba and I, therefore there is absolutely no waste in the redistribution of your contribution. We open this money pot till 31st december 2020, we thank you very much in advance for taking time to read this message. With love and care,Stephanie & PembaPs : The profile picture is the smile of Himalayan children when receiving the cloths of Paola.

Agora: Post-Covid Support Campaign

Agora: Post-Covid Support Campaign

Welcome to Agora's crowdfunding campaing!Bienvenue dans notre cagnotte solidaire Agora!Since the start of September, events and activities have flourished again at Agora, our yoga and meditation studio in Lisbon. This new beginning represents for us an opportunity to renew, create and develop, after a very long period of covid-related restrictions. Our team has grown (new therapists and teachers), we started new regular classes, events and activities to develop our community, which is now blossoming. We are optimistic about Agora's future :)From a financial point of view, our current level of activities allows us to function normally. However, the studio's income is not enough to repay the debt resulting from the unpaid rents during the various lockdowns ordered in Portugal in 2020 and 2021, during which we had to keep our doors closed. This debt amounts to five months of rent (5x 1550=7750 EUR) and must be repaid in the months ahead.Encouraged by your suggestions, we opened this crowdfunding campaign and call out to our friends support, of course if your financial situation allows you to.Whichever the amount collected, this contribution will be extremely helpful for Agora.THANK YOU BEFOREHAND FOR YOUR SUPPORT!Néanmoins, les revenus du studio ne sont pas suffisants pour rembourser notre dette de loyer résultant des confinements ordonnés par le gouvernement portuguais en 2020 et 2021, pendant lesquels nous avons été contraints à la fermeture.
