Julian's 50th: Give Back to the Sea

Julian turns 50 this September. Instead of gifts, we're raising money for two Portuguese causes close to the day and the place we're celebrating.

The story

We're gathering in Lisbon to celebrate Julian's 50th. Three days, one beach, the people who matter. For a milestone like this, Julian asked for one thing: no presents. Give to something that lasts instead.

So we've set up this pot. Every contribution, large or small, goes to two organisations working with children and young people in Portugal through the sea and through education and sport. Both fit the spirit of the weekend exactly.

/ Wave by Wave, Surf is Therapy

A therapeutic programme built on surfing and the sea. A multidisciplinary team in surf and mental health works with children and young people, using the ocean as a tool to build confidence, trust, and positive relationships. Their motto says it best: surf for good, surf for all.

/ Academia do Johnson
A Lisbon-area association supporting children and young people from vulnerable backgrounds. Founded by Johnson Semedo, it uses education and sport to break cycles of exclusion and open real opportunities. Twelve years in, award-winning, and rooted in one idea: you are what you do.
