Hallo Freunde,

dass wir den 10. August 2022 so schnell nicht vergessen werden, steht fest. Es ist der Tag, an dem wir lernen durften, dass es sehr schnell gehen kann, alles zu verlieren.

Vor allem aber ist es ist der Tag, an dem wir unglaublich viel Glück hatten. An diesem Tag sind in unserem Tal und den Bergen um uns herum 1000 ha Wald verbrannt. Doch unsere Tiere, unser Haus, unsere Werkstatt, wir und auch ein Großteil unserer Oliven- und Obstbäume sind verschont geblieben.

Wer wir sind? Wir sind Amaranta, Jan, Alana und Silvan, eine deutsch-spanische Familie, Kunsthandwerker, Bio-Olivenbauern und zu einem guten Stück auch Selbstversorger.

Seit fast sieben Jahren bauen wir uns eine neue Existenz in der Bergregion Sierra de Gata in Spanien auf. Wir verdienen unseren Lebensunterhalt mit der Einzelfertigung von Küchen- und Taschenmessern sowie der Gestaltung von Keramik- und Emaille-Tassen. Außerdem sind wir besonders stolz auf unser ökoligisches Olivenöl von unseren 350 sorgfältig gepflegten Bäumen.

Das Feuer des 10. Augustes hat uns dennoch hart erwischt, denn trotz aller Vorsorge wurden ca. ein Drittel unserer bis zu 500 Jahre alten Bäume zum Teil schwer von dem Feuer getroffen. Unser Anhänger, unsere Erntenetze und -stangen, die wir für die Ernte benötigen, unser Gewächshaus und einiges an Werkzeug und Teile unseres Wassersystem sind zu Asche verbrannt.

Neben der Trockenheit dieses Sommers sind die verwilderten Monokultur-Nadelwälder dieser Region Grund für die Größe und Schwere der Brände. Wälder aus Pinien, die nach Waldbränden als Erstes neu keimen und schnell wachsend die anderen Bäume verdrängen, Pinien, die sich jedoch aufgrund ihres Harzes im Sommer extrem leicht entzünden.

Wir haben diese Aktion aus zwei Gründen gestartet.

1. Zum einen wollen wir möglichst schnell wieder in der Lage sein, unser Olivenöl pressen zu können. Olivenbäume sind sehr hart im nehmen und obwohl es mit Sicherheit einige Jahre dauern wird, bis sie wieder tragen, wird ein Großteil der angeschlagenen Bäume mit viel Pflege durchkommt. Für die Anschaffung eines neuen Anhängers sowie von Erntenetze- und Stangen möchten wir Euch jedoch um Eure Hilfe bitten. Neue Erntenetze- und Stangen werden uns sicher um die 500,-€ kosten, ein neuer Anhänger 2000,-€.

2. Zum anderen haben wir uns vorgenommen, das uns umgebende Waldgebiet neu aufzuforsten. Nicht wie bisher mit Pinien, die als Monokultur in weniger als 10 Jahren wieder zur Gefahr für uns werden, sondern mit einem gesunden Mischwald. Wir können nicht die ganze abgebrannte Fläche verändern. Die Fläche, die wir uns zum Ziel gesetzt haben, umschließt unser Grundstück und ist groß genug, dass ein stattliches kleines Wäldchen entstehen wird. Helft uns bei der Aufforstung von einheimischen Bäumen und Sträuchern für die Entstehung eines Mischwaldes aus Stiel- und Korkeichen, Esskastanien, Nussbäumen, Haselsträuchern, Hagebutte, Weißdorn und vielem mehr. Wir werden sie dann zusammen mit unseren Freunden und Helfern pflanzen und pflegen.

Nach ersten Recherchen bekommen wir für 5,-€ um die 20 bis 50 Samen in sofern wir sie nicht selber sammeln können. Kleine Bäume bekommen wir im Forsthandel für 5,- und 20,- €. Für 1,- bis 2,-€ mehr können wir sie gegen Wildfraß schützen. Je nachdem, wie viel Geld wir zusammen bekommen, können wir mehr sähen oder mehr pflanzen.

Neben dem Anreiz, hier etwas greifbar Gutes für unsere Welt zu tun und uns zu helfen, haben wir uns überlegt, dass wir Euch bei Spenden über 250,- ein Überraschungspacket mit unseren Produkten zukommen lassen.

Es seguro que por mucho tiempo recordaremos la fecha del 10 de agosto de 2022. Es el día en que aprendimos que perder todo puede suceder muy rápidamente.

Es además el día en que tuvimos una suerte increíble. Ardieron 1000 hectáreas de bosque en nuestro valle y en las montañas que nos rodean. Pero nuestros animales, nuestra casa, nuestro taller, nosotros y la mayoría de nuestros olivos y frutales se han salvado.

¿Quienes somos? Somos Amaranta y Jan una familia germano-española, padres de dos hijos, artesanos, olivareros ecológicos y en gran medida, autosuficientes. Durante casi siete años hemos estado construyendo una nueva vida en la región montañosa de la Sierra de Gata en España. Nos ganamos la vida con la fabrición navajas, cuchillos de cocina e ilustrando postales y tazas de cerámica y esmalte. También estamos particularmente orgullosos de nuestro aceite de oliva ecológico obtenido de nuestros 350 árboles cuidados con mimo.

El incendio del 10 de agosto nos golpeó con fuerza. A pesar de todas las precauciones, alrededor de un tercio de nuestros árboles, algunos de hasta 500 años, fueron golpeados por el fuego y varios de ellos gravemente. Nuestro remolque, nuestras redes y las varas que necesitamos para cosechar, nuestro invernadero, algunas de las herramientas y parte de nuestro sistema de agua se han reducido a cenizas.

Además de la sequía de este verano, los bosques mal gestionados que abundan en la región, son la razón de la magnitud y la gravedad de los incendios. Bosques de pinos, que prenden con extrema facilidad en verano debido a su resina y que además son los primeros en rebrotar tras un incendios forestal, que crecen además rápidamente y desplazan a los árboles autóctonos.,

Iniciamos esta campaña por dos motivos.

1. Por un lado, queremos poder volver a prensar nuestro aceite de oliva lo antes posible. Los olivos son muy duros y, aunque seguramente pasarán algunos años antes de que vuelvan a dar frutos, la mayoría de los árboles enfermos se recuperarán con mucho cuidado. Sin embargo, nos gustaría pedir vuestra ayuda para la compra de un nuevo remolque, así como redes y varas de cosechar. Las redes y palos para varear nuevos probablemente nos costarán alrededor de 500 €, un remolque nuevo 2000 €.

2. Por otro lado, hemos decidido reforestar el monte que nos rodea. No como antes con los pinos, que como monocultivo volverá a ser un peligro para nosotros en menos de 10 años, sino con un bosque mixto saludable. No podemos cambiar toda el área quemada, pero nos hemos propuesto como objetivo actuar en todo lo que rodea nuestra finca. Un área suficientemente grande como para que surja una pequeña arboleda majestuosa. Ayúdanos a reforestar con árboles y arbustos autóctonos para crear un bosque mixto de robles, alcornoques, castaños, nogales, avellanos, escaramujos, espinos y mucho más. Los plantaremos y cuidaremos junto con nuestros amigos y voluntarias/os. Después de un estudio inicial, hemos calculado que podemos obtener entre 20 y 50 semillas por 5 €, según la variedad y siempre que no podamos recolectarlas nosotras/os mismas/os. La compra de árboles pequeños en un vivero forestal es entre 5 € y 20 €. Por 1€ o 2€ más conseguiremos las protecciones para que no se los coman los animales salvajes y según el dinero que consigamos podemos sembrar o plantar más.

Además del incentivo de hacer algo tangible para nuestro mundo y apoyarnos, hemos pensado añadir una motivación más y prepararemos un paquete sorpresa con nuestras artesanías para las donaciones superiores a 250,00.

It ́s certain that we will not soon forget August 10, 2022. It's the day we were allowed to learn that losing everything can happen very quickly.

Most of all, it's the day we were incredibly lucky. On that day, 1000 hectares of forest burned in our valley and in the mountains around us. But our animals, our house, our workshop, we and most of our olive and fruit trees have been spared.

Who we are? We are Amaranta, Jan, Alana and Silvan, a German-Spanish family, parents of two children, artisans, organic olive farmers and to a large extent also self-sufficient. For almost seven years we have been building a new existence in the mountainous region of the Sierra de Gata in Spain. We earn our living making handcrafted kitchen and pocket knives and designing ceramic and enamel mugs. We are also particularly proud of our organic olive oil from our 350 carefully tended trees.

The fire of August 10 still hit us hard, because despite all precautions, about a third of our trees, which are up to 500 years old, were hit by the fire, some of them badly. Our trailer, our harvesting nets and poles that we need for harvesting, our greenhouse and some of the tools and parts of our water system have been burned to ashes.

In addition to this summer's drought, the region's overgrown monoculture coniferous forests are the reason for the size and severity of the fires. Forests of pine trees, which are the first to sprout after forest fires and grow quickly, displacing the other trees, pine trees which, however, ignite extremely easily in summer due to their resin.

We started this campaign for two reasons.

1. On the one hand, we want to be able to press our olive oil again as quickly as possible. Olive trees are very tough and although it will certainly take a few years before they bear fruit again, a majority of the ailing trees will pull through with a lot of care. However, we would like to ask for your help with the purchase of a new trailer as well as harvest nets and poles. New harvest nets and poles will probably cost us around €500, a new trailer €2000.

2. On the other hand, we have decided to reforest the forest area surrounding us. Not as before with pine trees, which as a monoculture will become a danger for us again in less than 10 years, but with a healthy mixed forest. We can't change the whole burned area. The area that we have set ourselves as a goal encloses our property and is large enough that a stately little grove will arise. Help us reforest native trees and shrubs to create a mixed forest of pedunculate and cork oaks, chestnuts, walnut trees, hazel bushes, rose hips, hawthorn and much more. We will then plant and care for them together with our friends and helpers. After initial research, we can get around 20 to 50 seeds for €5, as long as we can't collect them ourselves. We get small trees in the forest trade for €5 and €20. For €1 to €2 more we can protect them from being eaten by wild animals. Depending on how much money we get together, we can sow or plant more.
