Thank you for visiting my page.  I'm again entered to run the VM London Marathon 2018, from the Championships starting area. As with the previous 3 years, I have chosen to run for charity. 

It's a difficult task for any parent to bring up balanced, healthy, happy, enthusiastic and well educated child, as parents all we want is for them to achieve their very best and to be happy whilst doing it. I cannot begin to imagine how extremely difficult it must be to achieve the same goals with a child that has been diagnosed with a severe autism spectrum disorder.  As a result of this, my chosen charity for this year is based in Almeria where I live, a relatively new charity which supports autistic children and their families;"Asociación ALTEA Autismo".  Their fundamental aim is to help and support families and their children with autism; their ultimate goal is to provide total social integration.

Much of the work at A.L.T.E.A. is focused on teaching parents, siblings and the extended family how to best communicate and guide their autistic child through childhood and into adulthood. This is provided through learning processes in fun environments, music workshops and support at local education centres.  A.L.T.E.A also focuses on ensuring their children and families have a positive childhood and provide accessibility to adapted sports such as swimming, ball games and horse riding. The association also providing homecare support to families in managing day to day tasks, care and rest bite.

To date A.L.T.E.A. have received very little government funding, relying almost totally on charitable donations.  I feel this is a worthy cause, I have seen firsthand their excellent work.  Yet again Barfoots are generously supporting me with this fundraising effort in matching every £1 or 1€ donated. http://www.asociacionalteaalmeria.org/

Gracias por visitar mi página. Nuevamente he conseguido puesto para el 38º edición del Maratón de Londres 2018.  Al igual que en los últimos 3 años, he elegido correr para apoyar a una obra benéfica.

Es una tarea difícil para cualquier padre educar a un niño para que sea, feliz, sano, equilibrado, entusiasta y educado. Como padres, todo lo que queremos es que nuestros hijos consigan todas sus metas y que sean felices.

No puedo imaginarme lo extremadamente difícil que sería lograr los mismos objetivos con un niño que ha sido diagnosticado con un trastorno de espectro autista. Por esta razón he elegido la Asociación ALTEA Autismo  relativamente nueva ubicada en Almería donde vivo, la cual tiene la función de dar apoyo a niños autistas.  Su objetivo fundamental es ayudar y apoyar a las familias con sus hijos, como objetivo final proporcionar una total integración social a todos los niños con autismo en la provincia de Almería.

Gran parte del trabajo en A.L.T.E.A. se centra en formar a los padres, hermanos y parte de la familia extendida a cómo comunicarse mejor y guiar a su hijo autista a través de las etapas de la infancia  hasta la edad adulta. Esto se consigue a través de procesos de aprendizaje en entornos amenos, talleres de música y apoyo en centros educativos locales. A.L.T.E.A también se centra en asegurar que sus hijos y familias tengan una niñez positiva y tengan acceso a deportes tales como natación, juegos de pelota y equitación. La asociación trabaja para brindar apoyo a las familias en cómo atender las tareas diarias de atención y descanso.

Hasta la fecha Altea han recibido poco apoyo económico, actualmente sus ingresos se basan en eventos benéficos y donaciones.  Pienso que esta es una causa digna y he tenido oportunidad de ver de primera mano su excelente trabajo.
