Neve Swart who is an 8 year old South African living in Luxembourg since January 2021 (2 years). Neve is quite intuitive and noticed that her mother complained a lot about how expensive things like getting nails done in Luxembourg is. As Neve has a lot of talent in art and fine details, she realized that she had a skill and a passion for doing nails and other beauty treatments and started treating her much delighted mother 😊 She then got in contact with a lady from Hungry through her Moms work, who introduced her to a great nail brand and each time the lady went to Hungry Neve built up a full stock, equivalent to a professional salon😊
Others started noticing her Moms nails, and were extremely surprised when they were told that Neve did them. Soon the ‘’bookings’’ started flying in😊. When her ‘’clients’’ started to give her money she did not feel comfortable receiving the money for herself, however she accepted to be polite. She thought about this for a while, and approached her mother - saying that ‘’ Mom I love doing nails for others, however I think there are others that need the money more than me’’, she then asked if she could start a fund and raise money for Children back in South Africa. Growing up in South Africa she was exposed to many families and children who are in need of a home, food, clothing, love and care. While living in South Africa she would donate her clothes, toys and make sandwiches for others - she thus felt she needed to do more for the Children back home now that she is living away from home.
She then designed a little pamphlet for ‘’Donations for Children in Africa’’, and we started spreading the word on her work and her cause. She raised money for 1 full year, and during our time visiting friends in Port Elizabeth, South Africa in February 2023, she was able to visit the ‘’Eastern Province Child and Youth Care centre’’, where she was able to hand over her donation, spend time with the team managing the home, learning what they do and provide to the children and also got to meet girls living in the ‘’House of Hope’’ - one of the 7 cottages where a group of 8 girls are cared for by the home. The home provides a safe home, a family like environment, clothing, extracurricular activities, transport to local public schools and an overall place of safety and care.
Neve was extremely motivated to make even a bigger impact in the lives of the Children living in the home. She has returned to Luxembourg, started reaching out further to more clients, expanded her range to include homemade Jewelry and has encouraged her brother to be included in fundraising activities through his sporting community - which a Charity Rugby match will be arranged (we do not expect her brother to do any nails 😊 ).
Neve has a clear goal of how much she would like to raise for the home in the upcoming year- and is staying in close contact with the Management team of the home, to ensure the money that she raises supports the needs of the Children at the ’Eastern Province Child and Youth Care centre’.
We have created this fund to support Neve reach her goal in making a difference in the lives of the children at the Eastern Province Child & Youth Centre.
