Chifundo Foundation Summer School

Hi everyone!

I am raising funds for the Chifundo Foundation in Malawi which
provides education to some children who come from families who live in extreme poverty. This charity was set up by Pete Cogavin, a secondary English teacher, and his family a few years ago. They are doing amazing work and helping disadvantaged children who don't have access to lots of formal educational opportunities.
The charity started in 2007 with only 5 students... and now welcomes 75 and counting!

I am very happy to say that I have volunteered to go to Malawi to spend two weeks teaching in Chifundo’s summer school. Being a secondary school teacher, it felt like a good idea to participate in the project and give out a helping hand.

A typical day at the summer school will be formal reading, writing and maths lessons in the morning then sports and physical activities in the afternoon. The teachers (6 of us) will live on site for the two weeks.

You can be part of this! Indeed, the charity needs donations to be able to keep the project running because every child deserves access to a proper education. I am thus aiming to raise 1,200 euros with all benefits going to Chifundo.

Last but not least, I have also signed up for a 10k on the 3rd of June to raise awareness about Chifundo’s fantastic purpose.
