Our dear friend Liane is someone who lights up every room. She is endlessly kind, joyful, and full of life, always smiling, always there for others.

In September 2025, she made a bold decision to move to Raja Ampat, Indonesia, to work as a Guest Relations Manager at a dive resort. It was everything she had hoped for. Surrounded by breathtaking marine life and a new culture.

But in April, her contract came to an end when reality didn’t fully match the dream. Before returning to Belgium, she made a final stop in Kalimantan to enjoy a few last dives. During a rest day, she wanted to explore the island and in a single moment—a simple jump into the water—everything changed.

Liane suffered a severe and unstable spinal fracture that affected a nerve. She risked permanent damage or paralysis. An urgent medical intervention was crucial. After a week, she was finally transported by plane, to a hospital in Jakarta, where she received the surgery she urgently needed. Thankfully, the operation went well, and she can now begin her long recovery.

She has already been bedridden for three weeks, and she is not yet fit to travel back to Belgium. Due to an unfortunate series of circumstances, her insurance had just expired. As a result, medical and repatriation costs are rising rapidly and must be covered entirely by herself.

We are doing everything we can to bring Liane safely back to Belgium, where she can recover surrounded by care, support and love.

Now, Liane needs us.
