70km hike of Ballons des Vosges for Association A.R.C.H.E.T at Hopital Beaujon

I will be hiking the Tour des Ballons des Vosges a 70KM route over 3 days on 30th August. I am raising money for the Association A.R.C.H.E.T run by the Service de Chirurgie Hepatobiliaire et Pancréatique at the Hopital Beaujon in Paris. Please support me in my first of multiple challenges to raise money for this amazing cause. A.R.C.H.E.T is the Association for Research on Hepatobiliae surgery and transplantation.

Last year my health declined significantly as I had a 9kg tumour (hemangioma) on my liver which grew significantly. This was an extremely difficult period of my life as I witnessed my body at age 25 be unable to function properly as the tumour began to squash my other organs out of place. I was extremely fortunate to have been referred directly to the Hopital Beaujon in Clichy (Paris) where I received continual support and care in the lead up to and following my surgery in January 2023 to remove the tumour and left side of my liver. Fortunately, thanks to Dr Dokmak and his incredible team of surgeons, nurses, anaesthetists the operation was successful and I was able to avoid having a transplant.

It has been an extremely challenging year and recovery but was made more manageable thanks to the team at Beaujon Hospital. Clinically and mentally the staff help me climb back up to the best form of my life.

In my recovery I decided to set myself the goal of completing a series of hikes to help motivate me to recover and regain the strength and endurance that my body lost following the surgery. Your donations will go a long way helping Dr Dokmak and his colleagues to continue to innovate, find new treatments and help more people.

A.R.C.H.E.T leads multiple research programs to improve the quality of care specifically regarding surgical procedures to treat both cancerous and benign tumours on the liver and pancreas.
