Natasha's Atlantic Dream

Natasha's Atlantic Dream

Hello everyone & welcome to this money pot! Hello everyone, Our daughter Natasha is 21 and has quadraplegic athertoid cerebral palsy which affects all her limbs and speech. We are incredibly proud of Natasha, she requires lots of support from different equipment and technology to do things we take for granted, like sitting and standing, talking and writing..,, she needs help 24 hrs a day every day, but despite all her challenges she has an amazing personality, she is such a happy young lady with a love of life, and dreams of adventure! In order to fulfill Natasha's dreams and hopes for the future our family and friends work hard to support and enable her, not just in her everyday life but with her passion for the sea and sailing! Sailing has completely changed Natasha's life....Natasha has been sailing a specially adapted boat for 6 years now, the boat is sailed by mouth using a sip puff system desinged by Natashas Dad Gary. Natasha has sailed all over the UK Ireland and to France, and raised over £60,000 for charities, as she really loves to be usefull and found fundraising is such a great way not just to meet people but also to be able to help others- something that for someone with Natasha's limited physical capabilities is fantastic, . Natasha has not just found a sport she loves and can fully participate and compete in but can use her sport to inspire others and, a career fundraising! In 2019 Natasha is hoping to take on the ultimate challenge and sail across The Atlantic Ocean! The challenge start date is 24th November 2019 and Natasha is due to join the startline of The ARC Transatlantic Race. We have secured a boat, a 46 ft Catamaran, but now we need it to have it specially adapted, we have a long list of jobs and equipment that is required to enable to live and sail the boat which is estimated to cost in excess of £150,000! To date a few companies have said they would help with some materials which is fantastic, but we still have a long list.... So we are looking for help and support.... The boat needs to be ready by the end of April, so Natasha can carry out the necessary training before the Challenge date. We are looking for donations towards the boats conversion and to complete the project. If you would like any further information and to become involved in this project we would greatly appreciate your help. We can be contacted through the website at www.missisle.com This is a toally unique and extremely exciting project, with lots of 1st's.We will be posting updates and blogs for you to follow..... Natasha says 'I will be the first person to sail across the Atlantic by sip-pufftechnology which means I sail by a single straw in my mouth. I want to demonstrate whats possible with great teamwork and I hope many more able and disabled people will be inspired to follow their dreams' Please help Natasha cross the Atlantic Ocean -by making a donation! Help us save MALDIVE PASSIONS Dive School

Help us save MALDIVE PASSIONS Dive School

Please help us getting through the corona virus crisis !! My name is Marc Pomel, Managing Director of MALDIVES PASSIONS Dive School, on the local island of Maafushi. MALDIVES PASSIONS Pvt, Ltd. has been registered as a company in July 2011, and was the achievement of a dream made 9 years previously by myself & Adham, my Maldivian business partner. This dream was made possible thanks to a new policy from the Maldivian government (back in 2008) promoting a new type of tourism, based on local islands instead of private resort islands. On local islands, you could be in contact with the population, interacting with them, sampling the authentic Maldivian culture and making sure that every single dollar you spent would benefit the locals instead of some big international resort companies.MALDIVES PASSIONS was the 1st dive school to open in Maafushi, the 1st ever local island to embrace local tourism. For almost 9 years, we managed to be ranked #1 attraction by TRIPADVISOR, to be the Award Winner of TRAVEL & HOSPITALITY, and to be the "Learning Experience of the Year" by LTG GLOBAL AWARDS. During this time, we also got deeply involved with the local community, bringing countless unemployed youngsters to diving professional level, conducting regular beach & lagoon clean-ups with school kids & tourists, organizing fundraising for the local school, setting-up numerous marine environment awareness program (with both kids & adults), and creating a coral growing project in Maafushi’s lagoon in conjunction with the Island Council. Unfortunately, all this is now in jeopardy, due to the current pandemic. The international airport was closed from the 19th of March with the whole country fully quarantined, and small business like us left high & dry with no income & no help whatsoever from the government. Furthermore, we had to move to a new place early in February, thus facing significant costs & expenses in the relocating process. All those factors contributed to the fact that ran out of money, so from last April onward, we were not able to pay our staff anymore. We had to temporarily lay off some of them, who returned to their home islands & families already, but 4 of our staffs (with no other place to go) were forced to remain with us in Maafushi. Although we can't give them any salary, we are still trying to bear the cost for their accommodations, food, and the utility bills (water, electricity & internet). Therefore, I am humbly requesting your help to face those expenses until business resume (supposedly on the 1st of November), and until we financially stable enough once more. Here is a breakdown of the incurred costs for your information: * Food cost is 170 USD/person/month for a total of 680 USD* Accommodation discounted rent rate is 550 USD per month* Average monthly water bill is around 330 USD, and electricity is about 260 USD.* Internet fee is 70 USD/month Therefore, we are looking at a grand total of 1890 USD/ month. Please, help us to keep the dream alive, as without you, we will be forced to sell everything & close down MALDIVES PASSIONS permanently. Anything you can spare & give will be very much appreciated, no matter how small your contribution. To show you our gratitude, and as a small gesture of recognition, we will be glad to offer a free fun dive, and an additional 10% discount to any contributor coming to Maafushi. Thank you very much for your help & kind consideration. Warmest Regards.Marc Pomel & team.

Ghana

Ghana

Hello everyone!English version below! Trust me, on s’entraîne dur, c’est grisant, ça arrive si vite ! A titre d’exemple, à l’Adom Day Care, c’est assez rudimentaire ! Prudence et ManuBack in October 2019, I spent a week in Ghana🇬🇭 , in Akropong, north from Accra with Penelope, June, Alistair and my mum. That was actually the most amazing gift I’ve ever had for my 40th birthday. Our mission was to help in any ways in a nursery, the Adom Day Care filled with lively and amazing babies and kids up to 5/6 years old. We helped with getting them dressed in their uniforms in the morning, reading stories, teaching them letters and numbers, playing, singing, having fun with them, helping with break times and lunches, dishwashing, tidying up...We were hosted by an amazing family run by Grace, the grandmother, her kids and her grand-daughter, Abriana which was the same age as June and was so delighted to get the chance to play, spend time and speak English with us! We promised we would see her again and even take her one day to London or to France! 🤩We had such an extraordinary week, and we are still in contact with the school head teacher, Tina and our host family. I knew we would come back at some point and visit them again.Sadly, because of Covid, we have not been able to go back but now that Covid seems behind us, we target to go and spend some weeks there in June, perhaps with Manu who could not make it the first time.Because there’s always more happiness when you share with your loved ones something that you strongly care about, I would like to offer you the opportunity to play a little game. Are you ready? 🍀Manu and I are extremely grateful to run the NYC marathon on the 6th of November 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️. Trust us, we train super hard! I promise we do our best, that’s so exciting, the countdown has started! (big up for the bibs to our amazing running club, the Flamingos 🦩!)We’ve created this Leetchi money pot dedicated to Ghana, mainly to the Adom Day Care but also to all of those that we’ll get the chance to meet or work with during our next trip and that will need specific stuffs. As an example, the Adom Day Care still needs so many stuffs such as cot beds, stationary, art and craft, books, games, mats, cushions, tables, chairs, tableware etc. The only thing they will never miss is joy and kindness!Let’s get ready for the little game! 🍀Here are the rules:What about you starting with contibuting to the Leetchi Pot (any kind of contribution from 1£, $, or €)?Then, 3 possibilities:*Should both of us are smashing hit and run the marathon in less that 4 hours, you will double up your initial contribution...*Should only one of us manage to hit the finish line in less than 4 hours, we’ll do fifty/fifty: you’ll add 50 % of your initial contribution and we’ll add 50 % of the total initial contribution.*Should both of us make it in more than 4 hours, we’ll double up the final amount of your initial contributions. Can we count on you?Thank you all So Much!🙏!!!Makes such a difference to know why we are running those flipping 26.2 miles!!!! 😊Ps1 : check this out if you want to find out more about the Ghana Volunteers programhttps://www.projects-abroad.org/volunteer-ghana/Ps2 : check out below the shot presentation drafted by Tina the head teacher if you want to find out more about the Adom day CarePrudence et Manu Short presentation from Tina, head teacher at the Adom Day Care."Adom means Grace. Justina Karikari is the director of Adom Day Care in Ghana, which was established on the 3 rd of June 1992, with only one girl who is currently a professional teacher. Our vision is to see every child is well taken care off and given a solid quality educational foundation for their future endeavours. Our mission is to train little children from 6months to 4years in a Godly manner. Adom Day Care is located in Ghana at Akropong-Akuapim in the Eastern Region of Ghana (Akuapim - NorthDistrict). Adom Day Care operate from Monday to Friday with No vacations expect on festive seasons. The school has seen significant increase in numerical strengths since its establishment. Currently the population is around 70 pupils, with six teachers. Our dedicated teachers follow a strict curriculum to ensure that every child receives strong quality educational foundation. Spending alot of time at the base or foundation will give you better start.Adom Day Care currently have two classroom block, with one big classroom, where kids are separated in all the classes, with a teacher supervising each class.Challenges confronting the Day Care includes: Transportational systems, getting the children to school and back home on a daily basis is a our biggest challenge. We have resorted to solve this challenge by hiring a bus to take the children. Most transport owners dont want to get involved with a small school like Adom Day Care because we cant afford their charges. Fortunately for us one man have accepted to help us but his bus is a rickety and an old bus, the kids find it difficulty when boarding the bus, at times these little kids get hurt in the bus which causes injuries to their body. Constantly the bus develops faults on a regular basis which disturbs smooth running of school. Either they are late at school due to faulty bus or late at home due to faulty bus, very frustrating.Educational supplies like Books, printers, photocopy machines, chairs and tables (both for children andteachers), a television to watch cartoons, C.C.T.V cameras for the security of the kids, laptops for keeping data of the children, which will help us move always from the old system of keeping their data (manual way).Adom Day Care is a great place for every child to start your dream and we pledge to do our best alway. Our motor is “with God all things are possible”. We always say beyond the sky is our limit."

Cassandre at IRONMAN WCS Hawai`i

Cassandre at IRONMAN WCS Hawai`i

Deeply passionate about endurance sports, I have dedicated the last 10 years of my life to long distance triathlon, also known as IRONMAN. An event that represents the ultimate balance between physical effort and mental strength, it pushes us to find the "Aloha Spirit" within ourselves. The "Aloha Spirit" is the coordination of the mind and heart in each person. It is a life force, a moral code, an expression of love and connection with nature.IRONMAN encompasses all of this and more. Through the passion, true dedication and sacrifice it requires, it calls on athletes to find that "Aloha Spirit" within themselves. IRONMAN is more than just a sport - triathlon is a way of life.In my inner quest to find this "Aloha Spirit", I aspire to continue to live my passion for IRONMAN and competition alongside my professional and personal life... and why not, inspire others on this path.MY DREAMOn June 26th, a dream came true when I won the IRONMAN Nice France in my age category. And at the same time, I claimed the grail of the triathlete, the qualification for the IRONMAN World Championships which will take place on October 6th in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. My challenge now is to put together the means that will allow me to be present on October 6th on the starting line in Kailua-Kona.SUPPORT MELike training or developing a personal or professional project, taking up such a challenge cannot be done alone. That's why today, I turn to you all.In Hawai`i, the sacred land of triathlon where it all began, this large family united by the passion for triathlon bears the name Ohana. Thank you, “Mahalo”, already to the whole Ohana, to all of you, from the very bottom of my heart, for helping me making this dream come true.I feel so grateful that I am surrounded by the best team I could have dreamt of in this journey. To Bastien, TT, Thomas, Morgan and Mickaël, Steph, Marie-Caro, all my training friends, to all of you, me dearest little tribe, thank you!And to James, for all your love, your patience, your support, your faith, for always being here by myside, the deepest and the most sincere THANK YOU
