Help Vetea David Get a Jet Ski and water patrol equipment to Keep Saving Lives at Teahupo’o

Vetea David, a well-known and fearless waterman from Tahiti, recently broke his jet ski on the reef after saving a surfer’s life during one of the biggest swells this season at Teahupo’o. Vetea has already completed 1000s of rescues during these massive wave events, putting his life on the line to protect others. Without his jet ski, he cannot continue this critical work when every second counts. Now, we’re rallying support to help him replace his damaged ski so he can continue serving the local and visiting surf community.

Unlike official surf contests, these large free-surf days at Teahupo’o don’t come with a professional WSL water patrol team. Yet, the danger is just as real — and often greater. Vetea and a handful of locals step up with their own gear, their own fuel, and their own courage. They are the first and often only line of defense between life and tragedy when things go wrong in these powerful waves. While the epic clips from these swells go viral online, the unseen heroics of guys like Vetea are what truly keep Teahupo’o running. Teahupo’o and the world needs Vetea regulating boat traffic as well in order to keep the lineup safe.

This is your chance to give back to someone who gives everything without asking for anything in return. Let’s help Vetea get back on the water with a reliable jet ski so he can continue saving lives. Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to making sure he’s ready for the next swell. Māuruuru — thank you from the heart.
