A grant in Elaine Harris's name to support the work of a young African photographer is
being organised thanks to the initiative and help of friends.
The prize for the winner will be announced in Deauville at the Planches Contact Festival of
Photography, 15th edition, in October 2024.
« A gesture of love that continues Elaine's work in support of creative photography and emerging African talents ».
You can take part in this prize in lieu of flowers and other gifts, as a lasting love gesture.
On her behalf, an immense thank you.

Une bourse de soutien d'un jeune photographe africain est en cours d'organisation au nom d'Elaine Harris, à l’initiative et grâce à l'aide de ses amies.
Le prix sera remis au gagnant en octobre
2024 à Deauville lors de la 15° édition du Festival de la photographie Planches Contacts.
« Un geste d’amour qui prolonge l’œuvre d’Elaine en faveur de la création photo et des artistes africains émergents ».
Vous pouvez participer à ce prix en lieu et place de fleurs/cadeaux lors de la cérémonie de funérailles.

Dear friends and family, Tom and I are very pleased to announce you that the jury and us have selected the first laureate of the Elaine Harris Photo Grant: Dimakatso Mathopa (https://www.instagram.com/di_mathopa/), from South Africa. This will be announced this Saturday at 7.30 at Deauville Planches Contact Photography Festival 2024 edition. We got over 40 applications 😍 and reviewed some beautiful proposals and portfolios. The members of the jury were: . Laura Serani, Planches Contact Photography Festival director . Zoé Renié Harris, artist composer . Tom Renié Harris, artist composer . John Alfredo Harris, designer . Omar Victor Diop, photographer . Alinka Echeverria, artist & anthropologist . Fabrice Monteiro, photographer . Azu Nwagbogu, founder and director of African Artists’ Foundation, Lagos Photo Festival director . L. Igo Diarra, Rencontres of Bamako director . Jeanne Mercier, ’Afrique in visu’ co-founder and editor in chief The grant will allow our winner, to produce a body of work on the theme 'Africa Inside', that will be shown at the Deauville Planches Contact Photography Festival 2025 edition. These are the words of Dimakatso upon hearing the news: "Dear Zoe and Tom Harris This is such great news! I am lost for words but more so filled with so much gratitude that I am the first laureate. I am looking forward to this project! Thank you so much for your consideration, it is the highlight of my year." Thank you all so much for your support on this beautiful endeavour! It's healing for us to see beauty coming from all this. Elaine would be so immensely touched! Let's keep thinking about her and saying her name.
