Fundraising to Battle Cancer!

Fundraising to Battle Cancer!

Life can be dreafully unfair sometimes. If you have not read this sponsorship page before, please see our letter to cancer which explains why we are fundraising...  However since launching this page, we have been told about an incredible lady, called Jenny, who has been dealt the cruelest of hands.  So we are dedicating our event to Jenny, asking for more donations, and sharing those donations across our cancer charities and into Jenny's daughter fundraising page. Jenny is 35 (younger than all of us), she has three daughters 6 and under.  She also gave birth to a son, Elliott, in Great Ormond Street, he died aged 10 days old. I'd say that sentence alone means she has faced massively more than her fair share of hardship; but on June 5th this year, Jenny was diagnosed with an aggressive adenocarcinoma of the lower bowel. The consultants say she has 18 months with treatment, 9 months without. Let that sink in. It is agonising. In her lifetime, Jenny has raised over £70k to provide a pallative care room in GOSH for PICU and NICU. Terrible things seem to happen to shining stars of the world. Jenny's eldest daughter, Nia, before her Mummys diagnosis, was starting to grow her hair for the Little Princess Trust, what an inspiration.  They are now raising money for Bowel Cancer UK - and I just hope we can add a little a bit more to that fund. Stories like this remind you to squeeze every second out of life, always choose to do the right thing, and love those you love with a passion that burns... Our hearts break for Jenny and her family, and we will be thinking of you as hopefully we raise some awareness and money. Thanks for reading this update - see below for our orginal letter to Cancer - but know we are even more pissed off with this cruel condition than ever before......  Dear Cancer, We are four, forty something year old women. In our chosen sport, we are called Masters.... In our peer groups, we are called friends, mums, or the mad dog lady. We met only last year, two pairs who quickly discovered we were actually meant to be a foursome. And then a plan formed. You see, we are at an age where we have watched friends battle you, seen loved ones die at your hand.  We have checked our breasts, had them squashed in a machine to ensure you aren't living in our body.   We go for smears, we take the vitamins, we try not to be one of the unlucky ones. We cry when friends are diagnosed, and we shout at the injustice of the condition. And we burpee, and we lift weights, and we pretend to be gymnasts. In October, we are going to do it together, in a team of four, where we will be part of an event designed to battle you. BATTLE CANCER With a combined age of over 170 we will compete against many half our age.  Just because we can. We will train harder than before and compete stronger. Just because we can, And because we want to raise money. Money for a cure, money for research, money to battle cancer! Because we are sick of you in our life. We are splitting the money over several cancer charities close to our hearts.  But all money can be donated via this money pot and then split between Bowel Cancer UK, Weston Park Hospital,  Macmillian and the Willows Foundation. Cancer, we are doing something to try and stop you. Friends and families - please donate - even a pound can help? And Cancer, because we can laugh in the face of adveristy. Because no matter how hard you attack us, we will continue to fight, we pledge that the moment we raise over £650 we will do one of the workouts in Unicorn Leotards. Because we can! Love, Simone, Jo, Jane & Mel. xxx   Hello everyone & welcome to this money pot! With just 1-click you can donate to a good cause* Give however much you want* All payments are 100% secure* Why Leetchi.com? Welcome to Highwayman Carnival Clubs money pot !Please click to make a contribution.Give however much you want. All payments are secureThank you! Hello and welcome to the Highwayman CC funding page. Thank you for taking the time to visit this page. We have created this page to aid us in our fundraising quest year on year, While we already attend and host many fundraising events all year round, These include hosting quiz nights, pig racing and bingos. We also attend many local events in and around Shepton Mallet, incuding Collett Park Day and Field House. We also marshall local events like Rememberance Day, Bath Half Marathon, Bristol 10K and Bristol Half Marathon. Every Year our Carnival Club builds an entry to attend both the Wessex and County Carnival Circuits, Including the famous Bridgwater Carnival held in november in somerset.  While we are not a charity directly we fundraise to build our carts, so that we may parade them through the towns to provide a free family night out, in the hopes that the general public then donate by way of collectors, to put on such a show and then each town may make donations to local charitys and organizations. These range from the local scouts to help4heros to air ambulance. We currently are not fundraising for anything specific, but fund raising as a whole. If you wish to know more please do not hesitate to contact us on facebook or by phone. Many Thanks Highwayman Carnival Club.  https://www.facebook.com/HighwaymanCarnivalClub/07513143578 - Please do leave a message we will endevour to get back to you asap.

Help us build this beautiful much needed mosque for Blackheath Jamia Mosque, it has been 35 years in the making. We need You!With just 1-click you can donate to a good cause* Give however much you want* All payments are 100% secureThank you! JazakAllah Khair Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page.I'll start with the story of this Mosque, this region, this locality...The origins of this Mosque date back to over 35 years ago when a small group of devout Muslims in the West Midlands town of Blackheath came together to form a communal hub to offer prayers and form a collective voice for Muslims in the community. The earliest Mosque was based in a house of one of the founding members. They would meet regularly to pray and also hold various religious events to promote community cohesion. As the Muslim community grew the space became inadequate for their needs, as a result the very first fundraise was performed and the plot of land on Malt Mill Lane was purchased with Allah s.w.t's blessing. This really was a blessed day in the history of Blackheath Jamia Mosque Trust. The plot of land was further established with the installation of two large, what were to be temporary mobile units. One to serve as the Male prayer hall, Kitchen, Washrooms and Imam's quarters and the second to serve as the Ladies Prayer hall and washrooms. Over the years due to various reasons such as a lack of competent management and other controversies, this mosque building project had been unable to get off the ground and the temporary mobile units became a permanent fixture as the play to pray. I am now 31 years old, but as far as I can remember I have been praying in the mobile units, from the old orange minibus that used to pick us up from our homes and take us for Quran class to Eid Prayers where you would have to breathe in so everybody could fit into the mosque. We have seen many changes over the years, Blackheath got a new mega Sainsbury's yet our humble mosque remained an ageing mobile unit.Fast forward to 2010, and the introduction of the new fresh forward thinking management committee and trustees. We have seen this mosque project finally get underway. Being a relatively small community, raising funds was extremely difficult for us for such a project but Alhumdulillah by the Grace of Allah s.w.t. the building has continued to progress and take shape. This was an unseen moment in the history of Blackheath Jamia Mosque. We are at the stage now to finally seal the building through the installation of the windows and doors. This is a humble appeal and request to please help us raise enough money to seal the building so that we can start using it inside and begin the internal works.I would like to reach out to every person out there who has the ability to help, no matter how small your contribution is, you have been promised to be rewarded 7 times over. By giving Sadaqah to the Mosque you are contributing to your own house in Paradise. May Allah s.w.t. reward you in abundance and thank you once again.Musallah: £100 (£710 available)Arch Window: £845 EachWindow: £654 EachDoor 1: £3900 EachDoor 2: £3500 EachBack Door: 1250 Each
