Sophie is going to Walkit! 10k London for CCUK 2018

It's that time of year again where I and thousands of others work tirelessly to raise extra awareness and funds for the amazing charity Crohn's and Colitis UK by participating in the Walkit 10k event in London on Saturday 9th June 2018.Why am I doing this?Simple, I have Crohn's disease and to put it bluntly, there is no cure. What is Crohn's disease?Crohn's is an auto immune, inflammatory bowel disease.  Crohn’s Disease causes inflammation of the digestive system or gut. Crohn’s can affect any part of the gut, though the most common area affected  is the end of the ileum or the colon. The areas of inflammation are often patchy with sections of normal gut in between.  As well as affecting the lining of the bowel, Crohn’s may also go deeper into the bowel wall. It’s one of the two main forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The other is Ulcerative Colitis.Crohn’s is a chronic condition. This means that it is ongoing and life-long. Symptoms include:Abdominal pain and diarrhoeaTiredness and fatigueFeeling generally unwell or feverishMouth ulcersLoss of appetite and weight lossAnaemia It can also cause problems such as mouth ulcers, blisters and ulcers on the skin, and painful red swellings, usually on the legs, inflammation of the eyes, thinner and weaker bones, liver inflammation and blood clots (including deep vein thrombosis). Crohn's affects 115,000 people in the UK alone. Crohn's and Colitis UK are an incredible charity who work endlessly trying to find medications to improve the quality of life and longer remission for those affected, with the long term goal being finding a cure to end this once and for all. Last year my story went global and I received incredible responses world wide, spurring me on to continue fighting this battle,if you would like to take a read here's the link; https://www.facebook.com/getyourbellyout/posts/750131645197097 Last year with thanks to Crohn's, I was admitted to hospital the day before the Walkit event so was unable to participate. This year, standing stronger and surrounded by loved ones, I'll be walking proudly and with thanks to my friends, family and of course my incredible IBD Nurse Jude and not forgetting my Dietitian Bryony for pulling me through and getting me back on top. Life is very unpredictable with Crohn's, I rely on alot of medication which all come with their own nasty side effects and alongside those, Crohn's has very kindly led me to arthritis too.So for me, a 10k walk is my mount everest climb, achieveing this will be hard, but I'm determined not to be defined by this illness. Thank you for taking the time to read this and in advance I'd like to thank any sponsors and shares of this page to raise both vital awareness and funds =)

Jim's FtM mammectomy

Jim's FtM mammectomy

Hello everyone & welcome to this money pot! With just 1-click you can donate to a cause* Give however much you want* All payments are 100% secure* Why Leetchi.com? It's easy & transparent!   This introduction being done by leetchi.com, let's talk about why I have created this money pot.I will first of all define the key words and then introduce myself and my project. This description will have a English version and a French version. EN: Mammectomy: It is the medical term for the surgical removal of one or both breasts, partially or completely.FR : Mammectomie : Terme médical pour une ablation d'un ou des deux seins, partiellement ou complètement. EN: FtM (Female to Male): individual identifying as male who was assigned female at birth.FR : FtM (Female vers Male): individu s'identifiant en tant qu'homme et a qui on a assigné "féminin" à la naissance.  ENGLISH VERS. I am Jim, a 23 years old FtM transgender. I am from France and I am studying management. I really love sailing and swimming. I would really love to love someone. The issue is, I cannot fulfill the last two statements. As a FtM transgender person, the disconfort I have towards my breast is increasing and I cannot think about practicing the sports I love anymore. Moreover, the following quote is completely accurate for me 'If you can't love yourself, how the hell are you gonna love somebody else?' (-RuPaul). I do not love my body because it isn't mine. I am a man and I crave for the body which will match who I really am. It has become unbearable and I cannot wait for the mammectomy to be done. By participating, no matter how much you will give, it will contribute to my journey to freedom and Life.I intend to be operated by one of the best surgeon in France for this operation. Before next year, I need to gather 5,000 euros to be eligible. This corresponds to approximatively £4,440 or $6,170. Help me making this year the last one to live like a caterpillar and the next one to transform myself into a beautiful and free butterfly.  Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day, evening, night. Jim Lurion

Raise for the blind

Raise for the blind

Hello everyone & welcome to this money pot!My name is Andria Paphitis and I am partially sighted in my right eye.i was born with a cataract, squint and nystagmus. The nystagmus is in both eyes unfortunately. I had the cataract removed when I was 3 months old but it left me with only 5% vision but it does no help because how much it has been drifted inwards facing toward my nose by the squint.this affects my left eye a lot because it puts a strain in my vision as it is trying to work double the time because of the loss of vision in the right eye. I have had several cosmetic operations regarding the squint because it has a big impact in my daily life. I feel very uncomfortable in my self and ashamed of it that I have to cover it up like I am a pirate or something because I just hate the look of it. Makes me feel like I am a freak.  The squint operations did no help because the eye is so weak and the stem cells aren’t connected to the brain because they were damaged with the cataract they had to be removed too as well as the lense.  I really would like to feel like a normal human and be confident for once in my life. I am now 20 years of age and still ‘til this day feel like a freak. I need to raise money to book for a private surgery to be proceeded on my right eye to either get a transplant of some sort or at least straighten the eye so it looks as if I can see and it won’t be such an issue for the appearance and I wouldn’t feel ashamed and won’t have to cover my eye with my fringe like an odd person.  Would be so so lovely if you could help me raise as much as possible to make this a reality and not just a hopeless dream.  Thank you you for taking your time to read this, if you would like to know more about my story please email me at   and I will answer any questions you may have.  Thanks again ! lets get raising!!!!

PTSD suffers findings

PTSD suffers findings

Hello everyone & welcome to this money pot! Project aimI want to start a charity for PTSD sufferers in the UK - there currently isn't one for non-veterans! I'm looking for funds to pay for the basics in setting up a charity(companies house registration, domain purchase and hosting for website etc.) to allow me to begin the important work of fundraising. The main aim for the charity will be to raise awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in the UK.About the projectHello there! For the past 4-5 months or so, I've been battling with the huge pain in the butt that is PTSD. My Post Traumatic Stress Disorder came as a result of being assaulted 2 years ago and left me with debilitating, exhausting, uncontrollable and crippling fear - stuck in the fight/flight/freeze adrenaline surge. Fear of everything, and unable to do almost anything (including just being me) without incredible effort even though the man who assaulted me will be in prison for the next 9 years. At times I've been unable to move, breathe or speak from ridiculous fear just by going about my everyday life. I developed psoriasis under my eyes from crying so much, doctors wanted to put me on beta-blockers so I didn't damage my heart from putting it under too much stress, I didn't sleep for more than an hour at a time, my muscles and joints were in agony from being tense, I'd chip my fillings out from clenching my teeth so hard without knowing and I've made life difficult for everyone around me - I wasn't me anymore, I became a highly sensitive faulty cctv system. I couldn't go out alone, but I couldn't be alone in the house either... Being off work for the last 4 months was therefore helpful, painful and awful at the same time. BUT the important part here is I'm talking in past tense!Miraculous help has come in the most odd form of psychotherapy: eye movement desensitisation reprocessing and I finished this treatment last Thursday after going private (NHS waiting list was another 6 months away!). Now I can be in an unlocked car alone, have a bath in an empty house, Play music when I'm in an empty house, go out in my garden finally and even drive with the windows down! Small things yes, but massive changes for me. I'm looking to go back to work soon and be normal me again!I'm not after sympathy, I simply feel that it's important to share this with the world: I know that there are people a lot worse off than I was but it's important for the world to know what PTSD is, how EMDR therapy can help and that it's not only people in the armed forces that can have PTSD (something I used to think). Not even my GP knew enough about it - and I'm not willing to accept a lack of knowledge for others in the same situation I was!I had a normal reaction to an abnormal situation - PTSD is considered a psychological trauma, regardless of what incident caused it and can therefore affect anybody! However, there is no PTSD charity for non-veterans in the UK!PTSD is a very misunderstood issue, which hasn't helped things for me - but I want to be able to help others. The main aim for the charity will be to raise awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in the UK - ultimately, I'd love to be able to help fund treatment options for sufferers and advice and help for friends and family of those affected. As a sufferer myself, I'm still off work on reduced pay (so unable to fund things myself) so any funds pledged will be incredibly appreciated, and go some way to helping others in need. Thank you so much in advance  With just 1-click you can donate to a good cause* Give however much you want* All payments are 100% secure* Why Leetchi.com? Romsey Red Box Project

Romsey Red Box Project

Help get the Red Box Project started in the Romsey! You may recently have seen news reports that disadvantaged young women in the UK are missing school because they have started their period and find it hard to obtain sanitary products.   I’ve decided to do something about this!   I’ve signed up as a Coordinator for TheRed Box Project, a charitable community group based in Portsmouth but with branches all over the UK. On behalf of the Project, I will be managing red boxes filled with free sanitary products which will be in schools in the New Forest area.I’ll liaise with the school and keep the boxes fully stocked. The key feature of the scheme is that young women who lack easy access to sanitary items are given as many as they need to see them through their period - not just one or two.  Also, it has been designed to be sustainable, providing a reliable supply month after month after month. Who supplies the contents of the Red Box?   An informal community, each of whom regularly contributes a little something towards it. Would you consider joining me in The Red Box Project as one of my supporters community?  Your commitment could be a donation of sanitary towels or whatever you can think of that would help. I hope you will sign up and work with me.It just seems ridiculous for this to be happening on our own doorstep.  If lots of us pull together and each gives a little ona regular basis, we can quietly and firmly put an end to this problem: woman toyoung woman. Thank you and please let me know if you would like to join me and we’ll get our Red Box started!  Find out more about The Red Box Project at: Facebook: @theredboxprojectukTwitter: @RedBoxProjectInstagram: @theredboxprojectuk

Help Us Deliver Our New Baby

Help Us Deliver Our New Baby

Hello everyone & welcome to this money pot! With just 1-click you can donate to a cause* Give however much you want* All payments are 100% secureHi everyone! We are Noa (30) and Idan (37). We are a Jewish family living in Shanghai, China for the last five years. We moved here with a dream that many young people have, to be happy, work and to be able to carry ourselves financially in dignity without being a burden on our elderly parents. We work hard and enjoying China's culture. After many years of trying to have a baby, we finally got the good news that we are pregnant! Our fairy tale wasn't without trouble... I got sick and had to have my appendix removed while I'm 3 months pregnant. After that, I had pregnancy diabetics and then at 7 months, I got pneumonia that caused me to be hospitalized for two weeks. My childbirth was scary and difficult, at 32 weeks of pregnancy I got my intestines torn and was rushed to emergency surgery my husband was told that he should say his goodbyes before it will be too late, luckily, I and the baby came out safe (he was born week 32 and 1.7kg). I was in ICU for 2 weeks and Jeremy was in Intensive care for babies for 2.5 weeks in which we couldn’t touch him.Today, Jeremy Joseph Yahav is a happy, smart and loving little boy. We finally almost done paying all the medical bills (around $40k). And now, to our Surprise, we are pregnant again but without the money for the delivery. Here is where YOU come into our story and can give us our happy ending that we dream about. We always wanted a family... But after 3 years of trying to get pregnant without success, the dream started to slip away from us. But when all hope ran out we were excited to find out we are about to become parents. Although all the obstacles along the way we now are super proud parents to 13 months old Jeremy. 3 months ago, something we did not expect or planned happened and we are now... Pregnant again. Very excited and extremely happy of course but... Worry. We don't have the money to cover the cesarean section I need to get the new family member out to the world. We both hard working people but still because of the unplanned pregnancy we didn't have the time to save money for the operation. We just paid about 4,000$ for a pre-natal test for the pregnancy but the C section itself cost another 11,000-15,000$ in a hospital that we can trust to be reliable, clean and understanding (English speaking and be able to see the baby after birth and stay in the same room which is not common in China). We now need your help. The help of good people that want and can make a difference in a young family that still believe in people goodness. We want our little unborn baby to be born to a world of unconditional love and that mutual support will be the base of the education in our house. Thank you

Amy’s skydive for Cancer Research

Amy’s skydive for Cancer Research

Hello everyone & welcome to this money pot! With just 1-click you can donate to a good cause* Give however much you want* All payments are 100% secure* Why Leetchi.com? It's easy & transparent! At the end of the month I will be doing a skydive in Cornwall in memory of a good family friend called David Wadhams. He recently passed away from cancer, and therefore my chosen charity is Cancer Research. Everyone has been affected by cancer in some form in their lives. We watch the horrible disease take our loved ones, and cause them to suffer unbearable pain.  Cancer Research is an incredible charity who work miracles on a daily basis, but wouldn’t be able to do their work without our help.  Recently, someone who had made a big impact on my life has been taken by cancer and I wanted to give something back to say Thankyou. David was the most talented and smart person I ever met, and had the kindest heart. Owning his own music studio, he was so passionate about classical music and anybody who knew him knew how unbelievable he was playing classical guitar and piano (as well as his many other talents). He taught me music from the age of 10, but did so much more for me than just get me through my guitar grades and teach me how to read music. He gave me my first part-time job, gave me careers & life advise, built my confidence in myself up, always making sure I was getting the best I could out of my life. He also helped my family out as much as he could too. If he could help in any way he would, the most selfless and lovely man who didn’t deserve this at all.  Anybody who knew David or was taught by him knows how lucky they were. He was loved by all and it’s just so so sad that there was such a loving & talented life was taken from us.  He had been suffering from cancer for a while until it sadly became too much & took him on Saturday 1st April 2018.  So I am doing this skydive in memory of him & I hope he can see as I think he would be amazed. If you could donate anything would be appreciated!! Thankyou!

Action Medi-Drone

Action Medi-Drone

Hi i'm Andy, I currently work as a Medic on an Emergency Ambulance which I have done for nearly seven years now. I am also a Commercial Drone Pilot and I love being creative. I'm trying to turn my life around and give myself a brighter future with more stability and happiness. I'm hoping generous people like yourself will help me keep the dream alive. So the idea I had was to merge my two passions into one, so i created a new company called Action Medi-Drone Ltd.  Unfortunately I currently don't have the capital to get it up and running due to the extensive costs of the equipment. My vision, is to be able to provide experienced and professional  medical staff those who need medical cover for all types of events, up to supplying the medics for  tv and film productions. As a commercial drone pilot, i could also produce  cinematic aerial photography and videography for weddings, residential, industrial, sporting events, estate agents, agricultural for crop yields and vegetation maintenance, tv commercials, tv series and the film industry. Your amazing donations will go towards buying professional defibrillators similar to the ones we use on the Ambulances, so we can do ECG's and start treating patients accordingly and organise the neccessary pathway to help save time and ultimately their life. We also need suction units, resuscitation equipment, medical gases and emergency medical drugs and consumables i.e. bandages, ice packs, masks, burns kits etc. Some of the donations will go towards buying our professional drone with camera and batteries etc.  This has been a dream of mine for a long time. Unfortunately the banks and government are not in a position to help me fund this dream. To say a big thank you for supporting me, all those who donate and request to use one of our services, would get a huge discount on your initial invoice.I would like to say in advance, a huge thank you to everyone from the bottom on my heart for helping keep the dream alive.
