The Crossing 2017 is the exceptional challenge of Nino Fraguela, a French triathlete of Cuban origin, to connect the cities of Miami and Havana during an unlimited Triathlon with a spectacular swim.
The Crossing 2017 will be in the form of a triathlon. This journey will begin symbolically with 13 miles of running in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami, followed by 168 miles of biking from Miami to Key West, to finish with a spectacular swim of 106 miles across the Straits of Florida, which separate Key West from Havana.
The goal is to draw society's attention to the need to protect nature, the marine environment and its wildlife, and to raise awareness of the dangers of global warming. We plan to raise funds to help support two associations, one dedicated to the protection of nature and the other to the protection of children.
2015-2017, 2 YEARS OF INTENSE TRAINING, INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONAND IMPRESSIVE PREPARATORY CHALLENGES!
Given the duration and the complexity of the Crossing as well as the preparation time (2 years ), it was important to gather together a group of professionals in the various areas of sports, science, underwater activities, promotion, advertising , etc. to bring all the support necessary for the execution and success of the project.
The complexity of his double preparation, one for official competitions such as world sprint championships, and one for The Crossing 2017 where the training is based on aerobics (long endurance), has never been tested by an athlete.
