“I am not a drop in the Ocean, I am the entire Ocean in a drop.” - Rumi
Ocean Amazone’s mission:
- to raise awareness of the fragility of our marine life, of the oceans' role in regulating climate and the underestimated threats to the marine ecosystems’ health and therefore to our lives
- to expose the current state of plastic and toxic garbage pollution touching even remote places like Galapagos and Easter Island and to document the Plastic Island formed in the South Pacific Gyre.
- to contribute in raising our collective and individual conscience to observe our day-to-day actions that feed the plastic and garbage problem and find new ways to replace them with environmentally friendly options.
- to inspire women to love the oceans and become navigators, having a more important presence in the sailing world and a larger role as agents of change globally.
“To protect the ocean we need not just words and regulations but the goodwill and energies of all, pooling together all resources at our disposal. The situation requires a global and
collective action to change our ways.” - Prince Albert II of Monaco
I challenged myself to get out of my comfort zone and traveled the unpredictable seas! On land, I faced the ignorance and disapproval of others who do not see clearly the great threats for our oceans and planet!
Help me with your generous donation to make this possible and become part of the story every step of the way!
John F. Kennedy said:
"We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to
sail or to watch - we are going back from where we came."
Why is this important to me? As a young girl, growing up in communist Romania, I woke up every Sunday morning with Jacques Yves Cousteau’s documentaries where I discovered in wonder and amazement the underwater “Silent World”. I saw it all in vivid, mesmerizing colours, although our home TV was black and white! Cousteau helped me escape a grim childhood, allowing me to dream my own unseen worlds! Growing up I fell in love more and more with the beauty of the ocean through diving and sailing! For this and more, I will be forever grateful and it’s time to pay it forward!
And as Jacques Yves Cousteau said: “The sea, the great unifier is man’s only hope. Now as never before, the old phrase has a literal meaning: we are all in the same boat!” And in that boat, we can create a cleaner world!
WE have the power to create change and together we can protect the blue heart of our planet.
