Food supply for families in Cairo during Ramadan
Hello everyone & welcome to this money pot!
Given the unusual circumstances due to the Corona crisis, the Egyptian government decided that this year there won't be public food supplies to poor people during the month of Ramadan. Usually, there are massive distributions of food in key crowded places in Cairo.
This measure is part of the set of measures (such as the daily curfew from 8pm to 6am) taken by the government in order to limit the spread of the virus in the country.
Yet, many Egyptian families depend on or at least need this help in food supply from the government and particularly during Ramadan.
Ramadan is a period of gathering, sharing and joy. However this year it might be different especially for people living in poor conditions, which are exacerbated by the current crisis.
Thus, this initiative project aims at raising funds in order to buy basic food products.
The money collected will serve to buy the following items: Rice, Foul, Oil, Foul, Cheese, Jam, Pasta, Juice, Sugar, Tomato paste.
All these will be gathered in a box and each family will receive one box. We estimate the price of one of these boxes at 400LE (approximately 25 euros).
We previously targeted some families in Cairo we could benefit from the initiative. I will personnally be in charge of the food shopping and then the distribution of it. The people who donated will be rigorously informed of the process, step by step.
We are aware of the fact that these troubled times affect everyone all around the world. But if you have the means to help, and are willing to, please do and share the initiative around you.
From Cairo, with love !
