Essay writing about

A memo when writing essays, reasoning

  • One of the main factors for the successful writing of the essay should be good knowledge of the topic, that is, of what you will write. Otherwise, you simply will not have anything to think about, and you will not be able to provide a single argument to prove your reasoning. That's why a lot of people chose a kind of family essay topics it' a large variety of opportunities for everyone;
  • At the time of writing the essay-reasoning, distribute the volumes approximately so that the introduction and conclusion occupy a total of about a third of the entire text. That is, if the essay is designed for three sheets, then the volumes of entry and withdrawal should not exceed half a page.
  • Most of the essay falls on the main part, where you prove your point of view, and in the thesis and summary use a short and concise statement of thought;
  • It often happens that the most difficult thing is to start writing. If it is difficult to immediately formulate the main problem that appears in the thesis, then you can leave it for later. Sometimes it’s easier to speculate, summarize, and then summarize in several sentences and thus write an introduction;
  • During the discussion, do not try to use abstruse words, sometimes it takes a lot of time to find the right word. To begin with, try to write briefly in a draft in those words as if you discussed in a conversation with a friend. How would you prove to him your point of view? Then you can edit the received text, removing the spoken parts and replacing them with more suitable phrases;
  • Using a few arguments, do not forget that they must be interconnected, like the entire text of the essay. Try not to go into details, but strictly adhere to the main topic;
  • A good method of argumentation is the use of two types of arguments, conditionally they can be called “argument-plus” and “argument-minus”. In the first case, you are talking about the positive consequences of the thesis, in the second - about the negative. For example, proving the thesis that you need to work on your speech, develop and improve it, in the first proof we can write about what positive results our work on improving speech will have. Effective communication, respect for others, the opportunity to find a good job, etc. In the second argument, we will focus on the fact that a poor, undeveloped speech indicates an undeveloped consciousness, a low level of culture, we recall the statement of Socrates “speak so I can see you” etc.;

  •  When reasoning, try to use specific examples. These can be situations from life, excerpts from works, opinions of authoritative people, scientific facts, etc. It must be remembered that in the final essay in the 11th grade (an essay as admission to the USE) it is mandatory to involve a literary work. Moreover, this should not be just a mention of it, but at least elements of semantic analysis: themes, problems, plot, characters, etc .;
  •  Quoting the author, do not be afraid to express your opinion. Especially if it differs from the opinion of the author. But in this case, it should be clarified why you think so, and not otherwise, a simple denial will not be enough. This will be one of your arguments in the discussion. By the way, pay attention to the exact knowledge of quotes: inaccurate quoting, replacement or omission of a word will be regarded by the verifier as an actual error. Therefore, it is sometimes better to replace direct quoting with the transmission of the content of the statement in the form of indirect speech (for example, instead of accurately reproducing the statement of Socrates, you can write: Socrates said that speech helps us “see” a person);
  • The conclusion should summarize the whole text. Do not re-list your arguments that have proven or disproved the main idea. It’s better to simply formulate what you have come to in the course of reflection. In your essay, you act as a researcher who provides evidence for the hypothesis put forward. Therefore, the outcome may be the opposite of the thesis;
  •  After writing the essay-reasoning in a draft, read it at least a couple of times, mentally pronouncing it. Keep your text consistent. Parts of the work logically passed into one another, and there were no drastic changes in the course of thought. Avoid repetition in arguments with similar situations. Check the ratio of the volumes of the main parts of the composition, so that you do not get too stretched entry and output or insufficient volume of the main part;
  • Check all text for grammar and spelling errors. If you are not sure of the meaning or spelling of a word, replace it with a synonym (this does not apply to the quotes used or the exact wording from the sources that you use). Remember that the ability to reason and express your thoughts does not come immediately. Just a memo, how to write a composition-reasoning, will not be enough. Read books, develop your horizons, communicate with adults. Learn to reason not only in Russian language lessons, but also in other classes, and everyday life.
